Adult Beginners / Returners
All lessons are designed and tailored to the individual students needs. Whether you want to learn classical piano through formal tuition, or want to play your favourite pop songs, lessons will be structured around your interests while building on techniques and theory along the way. In initial lessons we will get to gris with basic chords and harmony as these are the building blocks of all music. By learning these basic foundations we can expand your repertoire rapidly allowing you to progress your playing in the directions you want to.
In my experience, students who have received some form of piano education previously have a specific reason as to why they stopped. Perhaps this was due to being pressured into taking formal exams or an overly traditional form of tuition. My aim is to re-engage you to your passion and identify the reasons that you want to play piano. Music should be enjoyable and fit around what the individual wants to get out of it. In our lessons you will have the opportunity to explore improvisation, composition, playing by ear and many other aspects of playing that are not often touched on in the traditional approach. By learning these aspects you can discover a whole new side of playing the piano that you may never have been exposed to.
