Meet Our Tutors
With 25 years in the business, London Music Academy is renowned for attracting the best music tutors in the world.
Most have qualifications from the most prestigious music schools in the UK & US. When not teaching many are off touring with household names. However, what they all have in common is that they are positive, supportive and friendly!

Mauro Lacandia
Mauro can really really play. But he can really really teach too.
The London Music Academy’s Mauro Lacandia is a songwriter, guitarist, session guy, solo performer and, for the most part (!), a guitar teacher. Gifted, cheerful and motivating, Mauro is from Puglia, in Southern Italy, but he calls London home and teaches all over the capital.
Mauro graduated – top marks, obviously… – with a BA in Contemporary Music Performance from Bologna.
He teaches acoustic and electric guitar, songwriting, production and music theory. He helps students prepare for grades and admissions exams, but also helps the casual musician who wants to learn, to get better and maybe even take it to the next level. Mauro creates and adapts personal teaching programmes for all levels, all abilities. Oh, and he plays in Rhaposdy Queen, a covers band: no mean feat playing as well as Brian May and achieving the look. Power chords. Power stance. Power hairspray.
Even the best teachers need teachers of their own and Mauro still studies with Mark De-Lisser (ACM gospel choir, BBC, “The Voice”).
Gero Schipmann
Gero, is highly knowledgeable and wildly expert.
Gero is, simply, a wonderful guitar teacher. He is patient with his students. And at the same time he is driven to help them improve. He’s based in South London, Streatham, but is known to cross the river and teach elsewhere too.
Gero’s from Cologne, Germany, where, after several years of keyboard lessons and general music education, he took up the guitar. He’s played rock, pop, jazz and big band as a serious session musician.
In November 2015 the debut album of his quartet Esja 4, was released on Nabel Records, featuring his own compositions. He’s composed many film scores too.
With more than 10-years-experience as a guitar tutor, both privately and at music schools, Gero is equipped to teach a wide range of musical styles to students of all age groups and skill levels. Other than teaching guitar, he also gives lessons in harmony and improvisation, either combined with instrumental lessons or taught separately.
Vic Jamieson
He teaches as well as he plays, which is saying something.
Vic Jamieson is a London based guitarist and guitar teacher, personable, inspiring, knowledgeable and skilful.
Artists he has performed with include MNEK, Sigala, Zara Larsson, Craig David, Becky Hill, A*M*E, Karen Harding, Jessie Ware, Sinead Harnett, Bluey Robinson, Jacob Banks, Dionne Bromfield, The BBC Symphony Orchestra, and X Factor winners Louisa Johnson and Matt Terry.
Venues that he has played include the Royal Albert Hall, BBC Maida Vale Studios, and festivals such as Glastonbury, Wireless, T In The Park, Bestival, Lovebox, Lattitude, and V Festival.
He has recorded live sessions for the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge, BBC Three, ITV1, BBC Radio 1Xtra, BBC Radio 3, MTV, Capital FM and Vevo.
Victor – to use his full name – is a graduate from the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance in London, Europe’s Finest School of Modern Music.
